Program’s purpose and objectives:

The general purpose of the Electrical and Electronics System Technician (2 years of study) is to train, technically and academically, students for the needs of current and future engineering careers, in line with the ongoing and rapid development of technology and its implementation in vital needs of society. Students are taught basic principles of electrical and electronic systems, their applications and control. The programme provides students the necessary scientific, technical and professional knowledge and skills for entry to competitive technical professions, so that they can perform adequately their duties and assume the responsibilities of the Electrical and Electronics System Technician. Specifically, graduates of the program should be able to:

  • Obtain an electrical contractor license for electrical installations and maintenance of electrical appliances.
  • To create their own business in the field of electrical and electronic installations.
  • To work as electricians in the building construction stages, as technicians and maintenance staff at hotels, commercial and industrial units, as technicians in semi-governmental organizations or in automation systems.
  • To be employed in the renewable energy installation industry, telecommunication systems companies or in technical services in the public sector.

Intended learning outcomes:

The Electrical and Electronics System Technician course (2 years of study) provides the students with opportunities to:

  1. Integrate and adapt to the field of electrical and electronic systems and their applications.  
  2. Identify and apply the legislation, governing safety and occupational health.
  3. Acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge in electrical engineering required for the duty performance of the Electrical and Electronics System Technician.
  4. Study and interpret electronic and electrical designs.
  5. Acquire knowledge for installation, inspection and maintenance of electrical systems based on existing regulations and standards.     
  6. Acquire knowledge for installation, inspection and maintenance of renewable energy systems.
  7. Implement practices of inspection, repair, maintenance and optimization of electrical and electronic systems.
  8. Design and build electronic circuits by utilising specialized software, printing engraving machinery, assembly techniques and inspection.       
  9. Acquire skills in the digitization and automation of systems with the use of  Programmable Logic Controllers and microcontrollers.
  10. Apply knowledge and skills for installation of structured cabling and telecommunication systems on premises.

Application deadline

Frederick Institute of Technology academic year consists of the fall and spring semesters. The FIT calendar is arranged so that students may start classes either during the last week of September or the first week of February. Candidates may submit an application for admission to any of the semesters. Due to the fact that formalities for the issue of an entry visa take at least six weeks, candidates from other countries are urged to file an application at least eight weeks prior to the expected date of enrolment. Students are expected to be on campus prior to the beginning of the intended semester. In response to arising need, courses could be provided within the summer period.
