Academic year

2022-2023
Taught Language: Greek

Course Summary

2 years/ 120 European Credits Transfer Systems (ECTS), Diploma

The program’s language of instruction is Greek

Program’s purpose and objectives:

The general purpose of the Program of Study Mechanical Installation Technician (two years diploma) is to provide its candidates the required knowledge and experience to obtain a full-time position in the field of mechanical installations. The program will support its candidates to become gradually familiar with the disciplines of manufacturing, installation and maintenance of mechanical installations. Specifically, the program aims to provide the necessary scientific and practical background to its candidates in the areas of plumbing, heating ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment, renewable energy technologies installers including small-scale biomass boilers and stoves, solar thermal systems, shallow geothermal systems and heat pumps, as well as installations in the field of lifting equipment. The program aims to bridge theory with practice, allowing the candidates to perform adequately their duties and understand the responsibilities in the field of the mechanical installation technician. The program will also provide its graduates the opportunity to continue their studies to acquire higher qualifications.

Intended learning outcomes:

The Curriculum of the Mechanical Installation Technician (two years diploma, System ECTS) provides to its candidates the following opportunities:

  1. become familiar with the actual environment of the mechanical installation technician, who will be employed in the building or the industrial sector
  2. acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills for installation and maintenance of buildings and industrial mechanical services, which includes hydraulics, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning equipment, renewable energy technologies applications, including small-scale biomass boilers and stoves, solar thermal systems, shallow geothermal systems and heat pumps and lifting systems
  3. acquire the skills required (technical and administrative) for the installation and maintenance of mechanical installations
  4. use basic knowledge of mathematics to solve simple technical problems of mechanical installations
  5. understand basic engineering drawings and acquire reading skills of mechanical installation drawings
  6. use basic knowledge of computers for solving simple technical problems of mechanical installations
  7. use basic knowledge of mechanics and machine elements for solving simple technical problems of mechanical installations
  8. use basic knowledge of mechanical measurement methods for solving simple technical problems of mechanical installations
  9. use basic knowledge of materials technology for solving simple technical problems of mechanical installations
  10. be aware of the legislation governing health and safety at construction sites and at the installation of mechanical installations
  11. effectively handle the machinery and hardware required for the installation and maintenance of mechanical installations
