Modular Training

Academic year

2025-2026
Taught Language: English

Course Summary

Modular training offers a flexible, step-by-step approach where students complete individual training modules at their own pace. Each module focuses on a specific skill or qualification, including:
  • PPL (Private Pilot License)
  • CPL (Commercial Pilot License)
  • IR (Instrument Rating)
  • MEP (Multi-Engine Piston Rating)
  • UPRT (Upset Prevention and Recovery Training)
  • MCC (Multi-Crew Cooperation Course)
Upon completion of all required modules, students achieve the Frozen ATPL, the same qualification as in the Integrated ATP course.

Career Prospects

🔹 First Officer in Commercial Airlines – Graduates can apply for First Officer positions with regional and international airlines. Many airlines accept candidates with a Frozen ATPL, provided they meet additional hiring requirements.
🔹 Corporate and Charter Aviation – Opportunities exist in business aviation, private jet operations, and charter services, offering dynamic flying experiences and global travel.
🔹 Cargo and Freight Airlines – Pilots can build experience flying for cargo airlines, which often operate globally and offer stable career progression.
🔹 Flight Instruction & Training – Many newly qualified pilots gain experience by becoming Certified Flight Instructors (CFI), helping train the next generation of pilots while accumulating flight hours.
🔹 Aerial Survey & Special Operations – Roles in aerial photography, surveying, search and rescue, and firefighting provide alternative flying careers.

Modules

Modular pilot training follows a step-by-step approach, allowing students to complete each module at their own pace. Each module focuses on a specific certification or skill required to progress toward becoming a commercial pilot.
1️⃣ Private Pilot License (PPL)
  • The first step in pilot training, allowing students to fly light aircraft as a private pilot.
  • Includes flight training, navigation, and basic aviation theory.
2️⃣ Night Rating (NR) [Optional]
  • Enables pilots to fly at night under Visual Flight Rules (VFR).
  • Often taken after the PPL to improve flight skills and expand flying privileges.
3️⃣ Hour Building
  • Pilots must log a required number of flight hours to progress to commercial training.
  • This phase allows students to refine their flying skills and gain experience in different conditions.
4️⃣ Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
  • The CPL certifies pilots to fly professionally and get paid for their services.
  • Includes advanced flight training and theoretical knowledge.
5️⃣ Instrument Rating (IR)
  • Allows pilots to fly in low-visibility conditions using instruments instead of visual references.
  • Essential for airline and commercial operations.
6️⃣ Multi-Engine Piston Rating (MEP)
  • Trains pilots to operate aircraft with more than one engine.
  • A prerequisite for many commercial and airline roles.
7️⃣ Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT)
  • Focuses on handling aircraft upsets and preventing loss of control.
  • A mandatory requirement for commercial pilots.
8️⃣ Multi-Crew Cooperation Course (MCC)
  • Prepares pilots for working in a multi-crew cockpit environment.
  • Enhances teamwork, communication, and decision-making skills.
9️⃣ Airline Preparation (APS MCC) [Optional]
  • Advanced MCC training that simulates airline operations.
  • Increases employability with airlines.

Assessment Method

Final Qualification: Frozen ATPL
Upon completing all required modules, students achieve a Frozen ATPL, which allows them to apply for First Officer positions in airlines. The ATPL becomes "unfrozen" after reaching 1,500 flight hours, granting full Airline Transport Pilot privileges.

Entry requirements

Qualification requirements
Modular training offers flexibility, allowing students to progress at their own pace. However, each stage has specific entry requirements to ensure students are prepared for the challenges of flight training.
General Requirements
  • Minimum Age: 17 years old to start training (must be 18+ to hold a Commercial Pilot License).
  • Educational Background: No specific degree required, but a strong understanding of mathematics, physics, and English is beneficial. Some flight schools may require a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Language Proficiency: Good command of English (ICAO Level 4 or higher) as aviation communication is conducted in English.
Medical Requirements
  • Class 2 Medical Certificate – Required to start Private Pilot License (PPL) training.
  • Class 1 Medical Certificate – Required before progressing to Commercial Pilot License (CPL) training. This ensures pilots meet the health and vision standards for professional flying.
Module-Specific Entry Requirements
  • Private Pilot License (PPL): No prior experience required. Candidates must pass a Class 2 medical examination.
  • Commercial Pilot License (CPL): Requires a PPL, minimum 150-200 flight hours (varies by country), and a Class 1 medical certificate.
  • Instrument Rating (IR): Requires a CPL (or PPL with night rating) and completion of theoretical exams.
  • Multi-Engine Piston Rating (MEP): Requires a valid PPL or CPL and a set number of flying hours.
  • Multi-Crew Cooperation Course (MCC): Requires a CPL with Instrument Rating.
